If you understand the basics you will not only better understand the predictions page but learn to read charts to a lesser or greater degree yourself. Astrology is an art and having psychic ability is more than helpful but even those completely devoid of “the gift,” can learn enough to have a huge advantage in this world.
In astrology there are ten planets, the moon being considered one of them although technically this is not really the case but for our purposes it is and a very important one at that.
Every chart whether person, business, stock, a country, city or state or whatever, has a time of “birth,” which includes where those ten planets were at the person’s (or whatever) inception. Besides the planets the time is relevant in that it determines where these planets fall in what astrologers call HOUSES. More about that later, let’s start with the planets:
Sun: The center, ego, core, soul, masculine side of the person or entity, the father in a person’s chart. It rules the way we express ourselves, theater, speculation, children to some extent.
Moon: The emotions, personality, feminine side of the person or entity, the mother in a person’s chart, the public. It rules real estate, the home and family.
Mercury: The mind, intellect, the way a person or entity thinks, communicates. It rules domestic or short travel, sales, strategy.
Venus: Love relationships, women, money, jewelry, luxury items, art.
Mars: Aggression, war, putting energy out into the world, how a person or entity fights, sexual drive, attraction, strategy.
Jupiter: The great beneficent, expansion, world travel, philosophy, comedy, luck, protection, excess.
Saturn: The great maleficent, limitations, career, time, the father, business.
Uranus: Rebellion, chaos, upheaval, eccentricities, flashes of intuition, brilliance, genius, stuff out of the bleu.
Neptune: Delusion, loss, illusion, glamor, spirituality, psychic ability.
Pluto: Transformation, death, rebirth, sex.
Basic meaning of the houses:
1st House or rising: The self, persona, how the world sees the person or entity.
2nd House: Money, possessions, the person’s job.
3rd House: Domestic or short travel, siblings, grammar school education, intelligence, thinking process, ephemeral publishing (magazines, internet, etc.)
4th House: The home, childhood, the mother or father whomever the main caregiver is or was, the legacy left behind after death.
5th House: Children, creativity, gambling, the stock market, love relationships other than marriage, affairs, art of all kinds but particularly the performing arts.
6th House: Health, service, medicine, the body, small animals, pets.
7th House: Marriage, partnerships, open enemies, contracts, legal situations, the public.
8th House: Sex, death, rebirth, the occult, other people’s money, banks, financial legacies, power.
9th House: Philosophy, higher education (college), comedy, publishing (books), publishing industry, higher mind, travel overseas.
10th House: Career, fame, the public sphere, ambition, business.
11th House: Organizations, humanitarian causes, hopes and dreams, groups.
12th House: Prison, loss, institutions, hidden enemies, hospitals, psychic ability.
Aspects: Aspects are mathmatical angles between planets that create different types of energy between the planets. The tighter the aspect — meaning the closer to the center of the aspect, the stronger it is: Example — Mars at 10 degrees Capricorn conjunct Venus at 10 degrees Capricorn is stronger than Mars at 5 degrees Capricorn conjunct Venus at 12 degrees. The further out the planet (aka the outer planets) Pluto, Uranus, Saturn, Jupiter, Neptune are usually only given about a five degree orb. The Sun and Moon are given a wider orb at 10 degrees. The other personal planets, Mercury, Venus and Mars are given about a 7 degree orb.
The MAJOR ASPECTS:
Conjunction: 0 – 10 degrees: Exact at 0 degrees: When planets are in the same sign and close in degree (the number you see in relationship to the planet). They can either be positive or negative. If the planets are beneficial and conjunct its a good thing but if they are negative in nature such as Pluto conjuncting anything its upheaval, death, rebirth, destruction.
Sextile: 55 – 65 degrees: Exact at 60 degrees: A positive aspect creating opportunity but its not enough to offset a horrible aspect, rather it will create opportunity for good to come out of bad.
Square: 85 -95 degrees: Exact at 90 degrees: A negative aspect, creating hardship, difficulty but also manifestation.
Trine: 115 -125 degrees: Exact at 120 degrees: A positive aspect creating harmony and ease often unnoticed due to its easiness.
Inconjunction: 145-155 degrees:Exact at 150 degrees: Correction, separation, in extreme cases death metaphor or otherwise.
